Kids get ready for their first day back at school with COVID-19 in mind

Parents have sent their children back to school after the recent lockdown. But this time they besides the usual school books and packed lunch, we now have to consider the very real threat to our kids from the Delta variant of COVID-19. That's why today as per the Queensland Government mandate, School students over 12 years of age must wear a face mask when on school premises or when travelling on dedicated school transport. Adults, including volunteers, family members, contractors, and other visitors are required to wear a face mask at all times while on school grounds.

Children at higher risk of Covid-19 exposure amid Delta, vaccine rollout

Experts are warning Australia’s children are more at risk than ever for Covid-19 infections, with new mutations to the virus and the nation’s lagging vaccine rollout leaving them badly exposed. For the most part, children have been relatively spared from the severe impacts of Covid-19. And this is why hundreds of thousands of high school students will be required to wear face masks at school for the first time today as south-east Queensland enters its first day of wound-back COVID-19 restrictions.

Where do I get face masks for students from?

Mediscrubs are fully stocked with the new Viroblock Antiviral & Antibacterial Masks which are available in-store and online, and are perfect for students!  The following guidelines have been out  in place from the QLD Government website:
  • All staff must wear a face mask at all times while at school, including when teaching.
  • Students over 12 years of age must wear a face mask when on school premises or when travelling on dedicated school transport.
  • Adults, including volunteers, family members, contractors, and other visitors are required to wear a face mask at all times while on school grounds.
  • Face masks are not required where the nature of a person's work means that clear visibility of the mouth is essential.
The new restrictions are a response to the region's major outbreak after the virus spread from a secondary student in Brisbane's western suburbs to a nearby state school. The Viroblock Antiviral & Antibacterial Masks come in small and large sizes and are comfortable and washable. You can order online or in-store today.

Getting vaccinated prevents severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. Unvaccinated people should get vaccinated and continue masking until they are fully vaccinated. With the Delta variant, this is more urgent than ever.
