Mediscrubs Client Spotlight

Introducing Dr. Oluwaseun Kolade

Hello, my name is Oluwaseun. I am an adult's medicine registrar working at Gold Coast University Hospital.

What got you into medicine?

I hate to use the old trope of “I wanted to help people”, but certainly a large part of that was my motivation. I specifically went down the adult's medicine path because, in my early years out of medical school, physicians' training piqued my interest the most.

What do you like most about your job?

At the moment I work in a great team so that makes going to work every day that much more enjoyable. We’re all at our jobs way too many hours a day to not enjoy hanging out with the people around us.

What do you find most challenging about your work?

There’s always something new to learn. Or re-learn, for the 10th time.

How do you manage to stay calm when faced with challenges?

I remind myself that no matter what I’m going through I’m not the first, I’m not the only, and I won’t be the last.

What kind of challenges has impacted your work since the global pandemic began?

For starters work meetings became a logistical nightmare. Things like adhering to social distancing practices when you have big teams and numerous people moving through the establishment became a challenge. But these issues weren’t unique to us as I know all workplaces have had to do their best to adjust in these very unusual times.

How do you stay informed with current healthcare advancements?

There’s an app for that.

How do you see the future of healthcare?

Things will evolve a lot in the coming years. The global pandemic forced us to change how we deliver a lot of services and I think it showed us there’s plenty of scope for sustainable change.

What’s your favourite Mediscrubs style and colour?

I used to be an OG Mediscrub 4 pocket kinda guy but I may have been converted to Anon midnight blue!

Why is Mediscrubs your choice of medical apparel?

Imagine being so comfortable in your work clothes it’s almost like you’re in pyjamas. Definitely comes in handy when you’re actually on night shifts! Thank you, Dr. Kolade. We appreciate your time and your amazing answers. You can follow Oluwaseun @eskolade
