Two of Mediscrubs in-house mothers Penny and Julie were on the Mediscubs couch this week to discuss the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding that they themselves and a lot of mothers can face.

WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2021

This was World Breastfeeding Week! World Breastfeeding Week was first celebrated in 1992 and is a global campaign to raise awareness related to breastfeeding. Over 120 countries around the world celebrated breastfeeding this week by participating in a wide variety of activities to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. World breastfeeding week has the dual goal of improving the health of babies and promoting, protecting, and supporting the rights of women to breastfeed anywhere and at any time. The theme this year isProtect Breastfeeding: Shared Responsibility” and is about how breastfeeding contributes to the health, survival, and wellbeing of all. Here at Mediscrubs we take on the shared responsibility and wanted to share with you some info about this incredible week. We believe the support of breastfeeding should include all health systems, workplaces, and communities of all levels of society here in Australia and around the world. The theme also acknowledges breastfeeding is not only supported to individuals but must be considered a public health issue that requires investment at all levels around the world.  Two of our in-house mothers Penny and Julie were on the Mediscubs couch this week to discuss the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding that mothers can face.
