Mediscrubs Stands Shoulder to Shoulder for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Unite in the Battle!
October is a month of varied emotions. Some wear pink with pride, celebrating survivors and warriors. Others quietly reflect, remembering those we've lost to breast cancer. For some, this month stirs grief, while others might feel unnoticed or misunderstood. At Mediscrubs, we believe in embracing all these feelings. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to share what you need to know about this vital initiative.
Living Well, Your Way - BCNA's Theme for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This October, Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) has chosen the theme "Living Well, Your Way" to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's a powerful reminder that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis. Each person's journey is unique, and "living well" can mean different things to different individuals.
A breast cancer diagnosis is a life-altering experience, and there's no single formula for coping with it. For some, "living well" means moving forward after completing treatment, free from the burdens of active medical intervention. For others, including those living with metastatic breast cancer, the fight continues, and treatment remains a daily reality.
Breast cancer doesn't just affect individuals during their treatment; it leaves a long-lasting impact on their lives. Physical, emotional, and financial challenges may persist. Recognising these challenges is crucial, and it's important to know that support may be needed at various times along this journey.
BCNA, in its 25th year, is committed to connecting individuals with the information, resources, and support they require. Whether you are a patient, a family member, a support person, or a healthcare professional providing care, BCNA stands with you.
Join the Fight - Spread Breast Awareness
Australia's Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time for all of us to focus on breast cancer and its impact on our community. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women, but the survival rates continue to improve, with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.
Early detection is the key to surviving breast cancer. You don't need to be an expert to check your breasts; simple awareness is enough. Look for changes like new lumps, changes in breast size or shape, nipple alterations, nipple discharge, changes in breast skin, or unusual pain that doesn't subside. Most changes aren't due to breast cancer, but if you notice any, don't hesitate to consult your doctor.
Mediscrubs Stands in Solidarity
At Mediscrubs, we are proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We've introduced pink scrubs to our collection in solidarity with all those impacted by breast cancer. By wearing pink scrubs, you not only show your support but also contribute to a cause that can save lives.
This month, let's stand together, raise awareness, and support those affected by breast cancer. We encourage you to share this essential information with your family, friends, and colleagues. Together, we can make a difference, working towards a future free from the burdens of breast cancer.
Stay tuned to our website and social media channels throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month as we share valuable resources and inspirational stories to help you and your loved ones live well, your way. We believe in the power of knowledge, awareness, and support in the fight against breast cancer.
