Mediscrubs is Australian owned and operated and we design our medical uniforms onsite. We have sourced many fabrics over the past 12 years and have created the perfect blend of fabrics that provide the ultimate in style, comfort and durability. This latest blended fabric is our best yet and we would like to introduce it to you. Our new Mediscrubs fabric consists of three essential ingredients, 70% Polyester; 25% Cotton and 5% Spandex. Let’s explain this Perfect Blend.
Polyester
Polyester is a synthetic fiber, extremely resilient and can take wear and tear. It also holds colour well, and prevents fading. Many of our clients are Mediscrubs converts, after having purchased scrubs elsewhere only to see them fade quickly and even fall apart after just a few washes. For us, a 70% blend of Polyester is an obvious choice because it is lightweight, holds colours well and is durable enough to maintain the integrity of the garment, even after multiple machine washes. When you buy Mediscrubs you will find that your scrubs will not only be more durable, but they will also be able to withstand higher temperatures when laundered.
Cotton
As important as durable and long lasting scrubs is, we also know it's important to have them feel soft and comfortable. This is where our next ingredient comes in. Cotton is a natural fibre and the most widely used natural fabric for manufacturing across the world. Cotton is a renewable resource and is biodegradable. It keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Cotton is soft, breathable and allows maximum comfort for you to get through your working day. So why wouldn’t we use a 100% cotton weave? Reason being is that cotton can easily shrink. A garment that is made entirely from cotton will be super soft, but it won’t withstand a dryer without shrinking, and will also fade more easily. Natural fibres such as cotton also wear down quickly and would not remain as durable over time. We believe that using just 25% cotton is the perfect amount to soften up your scrubs, without losing much needed durability.
Spandex
Finally we come to our third ingredient, spandex. This last ingredient is the perfect addition to your scrubs, and we have incorporated exactly 5% Spandex into our weave. Spandex is an anagram for ‘expands’ and is well known for its elasticity. Spandex is one of the most important ingredients as the aforementioned fabrics because it can detect even the slightest pressure and strain and can withstand deformation of close to 500% before recovering to its initial shape. This ability to stretch in several directions at once is known as 4-way-stretch. All this makes Spandex the perfect choice for applications in smart scrubs. Spandex also has moisture-wicking properties, is strong and equally comfortable giving the wearer freedom of movement. Well, you might ask, why then, only use 5% Spandex. The answer is simple, Spandex material is not as breathable as fabric and can trap moisture, sweat, and odour within the garment. These issues are removed by combining cotton and our other breathable material Polyester. A 5 % mix of Spandex is the perfect final touch to your scrubs to give you that amount of stretch and flexibility you need while keeping you cool and comfortable. In conclusion When creating our perfect blended fabric, we considered all the ingredients you will need to maintain maximal support through your working day. We also took into consideration our Australian climate. It is important to have durable scrubs, but also scrubs that will keep you cool, and will breathe. Our fabric is not brushed and our garments have double stitching. Double and top stitching is extremely important to help your quality Mediscrubs maintain their original fit even after many washing machine cycles. We take pride in our Australian designed Mediscrubs fabric. We created it, believe it, and feel it is the best blend for you. Enjoy the Perfect Blend!
