We are proud supporters of the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) and would like to let you know about this incredible movement and their support of the beautiful Orangutan. The Orangutan is Asia’s only great ape and is found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra.

Orangutans are highly intelligent sentient beings and are the closest living relatives to us humans. The survival of the Orangutan is now facing extinction. Their survival is threatened by the clearing and burning of their forests and some are also hunted down as plantation pests or captured for the illegal wildlife trade. It is critical that foundations like BOSF exist.

Since 1991, BOSF has been helping to protect the Orangutan and their habitat. They help rescue them from areas of human-wildlife conflict. Their main aim is to rehabilitate them and then when they are ready return them to safe forest areas where they can live in safety and freedom.

Recently we donated scrubs to go to the many vets who are taking care of the Orangutans during rehabilitation. We heard of a recent ‘Release’ story that we wanted to share with you. Meet 'Alba' the only known Albino Orangutan. Rescued by BOSF a year ago from a captive situation Alba has been rehabilitated and is now released into a remote and protected area of rainforest along with her best friend ‘Kika’.

They are being monitored closely by rangers and vets. Here is a little clip of their release which was just last month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuQ63xdlPlI#action=share
